About the TDEE Calculator
TDEE, or total daily energy expenditure, estimates how many calories you may burn in a full day after activity is added to your resting energy needs.
How to Use It
Choose Metric or US units, enter age, sex, height, and weight, then select a BMR formula and activity level. The result estimates maintenance calories for your current activity level.
TDEE vs BMR
BMR estimates resting calories. TDEE multiplies BMR by an activity factor to estimate total daily calorie use, so it is usually higher than BMR.
How to Interpret TDEE
TDEE is a starting estimate, not a fixed rule. Real maintenance needs can vary with training, daily movement, sleep, body composition, and tracking accuracy.
Limits and Source
TDEE combines a predicted BMR with an activity multiplier, so it cannot account for every person's metabolism, illness, medication, or changing activity. It is not for children, pregnancy or breastfeeding, eating disorders, or medical nutrition treatment. The underlying Mifflin-St Jeor equation is described in this peer-reviewed study; seek a qualified clinician or dietitian for individualized guidance.
