About the Body Fat Calculator
This body fat calculator estimates body fat percentage from tape measurements, height, weight, age, and sex. It is designed for quick tracking, not clinical diagnosis.
How to Use It
Choose Metric or US units, enter your age, sex, height, weight, neck, and waist measurements, then select Calculate. For female estimates, add hip measurement as well.
U.S. Navy Method
The U.S. Navy method uses circumference measurements to estimate body fat. It is practical and simple, but the result depends heavily on measuring the same body points consistently.
Body Fat Category
The colored bar groups the result into common fitness ranges. These ranges are general references and should be interpreted with activity level, body type, and health context.
Fat Mass and Lean Mass
Fat mass is the estimated portion of body weight made up of fat. Lean body mass is the rest of the body weight, including muscle, bone, water, and organs.
Limits and Source
Circumference methods are practical estimates, not clinical body-composition tests. Small differences in tape placement, posture, hydration, or body shape can change the result, so compare trends measured consistently. The method is related to U.S. Department of Defense circumference equations; see this published evaluation of the method. For health concerns, use a qualified clinician rather than this result alone.
