About the Ideal Weight Calculator
This calculator estimates a healthy weight range from height and adult BMI reference values, then adds common ideal-weight formula estimates for comparison.
Healthy Weight vs Ideal Weight
A healthy weight is usually better shown as a range, not one exact number. Body frame, muscle mass, age, and health background can all change what is realistic for a person.
How to Use It
Choose Metric or US units, enter height, select sex and reference range, then calculate. The main result shows the healthy range; the lower table shows formula-based estimates.
Formula Estimates
Robinson, Miller, Devine, and Hamwi formulas are older height-and-sex estimates. They are useful for comparison, but they do not measure body composition or medical risk.
Important Note
This page is for general information for adults. It is not a medical diagnosis, and it may not fit children, pregnancy, athletes, or people with specific health conditions.
Limits and Source
The healthy range is calculated from adult BMI reference values, while ideal-weight formulas are comparison tools rather than clinical targets. They do not measure body composition, health history, or treatment needs. See the CDC adult BMI guidance and discuss individualized goals with a qualified clinician.
